From this date forward, all electrical installations must strictly comply with Amendment 4 (often referred to in the industry as the "Orange Book").

Historically, an electrical contracting company could operate under the umbrella of a single "Qualified Supervisor" who signed off on the team's collective work. The new rules bring this model to an end for specialist installations and inspections.

What is changing?

Every single employed electrician, subcontractor, or technician working on your property must now individually prove their qualification level. To work on high-stakes projects, every technician must hold a verified Level 3 qualificationalongside at least two years of proven field experience. This strictly applies to:

• Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs)
• EV charging point installations
